Ottilie House

Ottilie House

Ottilie House is a full renovation of a 1920s social house, transforming a constrained “two up, two down” layout into a light-filled, spatially generous family home. Floors were lowered to increase volume, internal walls removed to improve flow, and a rear extension added to create a cohesive open-plan ground floor.

Bespoke architectural interventions define key moments throughout the house, from a sculptural floating bookshelf framing a reclaimed fireplace to carefully calibrated openings and ceiling heights. Light, circulation, and spatial layering were central to the design, creating calm, connected spaces with moments of drama. Subtle contrasts between traditional and contemporary elements, alongside integrated architectural lighting, give the home depth, character, and a strong sense of identity

Light Off, Lights On

Natural light defines the house during the day, while integrated, concealed lighting animates the architecture at night. Carefully hidden sources reveal depth, guide movement, and allow the spaces to come alive after dark.

Detail in the Minimalism

Colour emerges only through materials — the warmth of brick, the depth of timber — while the rest of the palette remains monochrome. Concrete floors, joinery, and finishes sit along the greyscale, giving every space clarity, calm, and a distinct identity.
